Donations for Alex

21 Sep

Hi everyone!  I’m taking a break from the usual food posts to write about my friend, Alex.

As some of you know, on September 6, 2009, Alex was struck by a drunk driver and was thrown from his car and onto the highway.  He suffered severe spinal injuries.  He’s currently fighting off pneumonia and relies on a respirator to breath.  It breaks my heart that this accident, and many, many others could have been easily prevented if that man just did not get behind the wheel.  That man’s dumb decision has changed Alex and his family’s lives forever..

Alex is one of the hardest working, kindest, and most loving people I know.  Alex has been a great friend to me for the 3+ years I’ve known him.  Alex makes everyone around him laugh, and it’s rare to see someone not smiling around him!  He has always been there for me, and now it’s my turn to return the favor.  I care about Alex more than I can put into words, and I figure that although I cannot help him physically at this time, I can use my resources on this blog to help out in other ways.

A couple of Alex’s friends and co-workers set up the wonderful and extremely successful bake sale this past weekend which raised over $3000 dollars for Alex and his family!  They’ve also set up a fund at a local bank to continue to raise more money to help his family out in this hard time.

I know that the blog world has a lot of love to give, so I come to you asking for your help!  I am determined to help raise lots more money to support Alex and his family.  If you are able, please consider donating!  I will send every person that donates a print of my photography and a batch of delicious vegan cookies!

I’ve set up a paypal donation link on the side of the blog, and you can also click here to donate.  I’m not sure if that will work, but if it doesn’t you can send donations through paypal to carpentern2@gmail.com.  Make sure you also include your address if you’d like the photo and cookies.

I very much appreciate all the love you have given thus far!  You guys are amazing and please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

If you can, please pass the word on about this!

That is so kind of you, and what a sad story. I would love to donate, but I need to get paid first. AT this time I really do not have the money, as I don’t have a job!! Ugh. I will be getting paid in November, maybe before, and would be glad to make a donation at that time. Hopefully you’ll keep that link on your blog!

I think it’s great that you are helping out your friend in such a kind way. I made a donation, and am keeping him and his family in my thoughts and prayers. It is also very kind of you to offer your photography and baked goods. I think you are so talented: you’re photography always looks amazing, as does your baking! Thanks
