Grow Old With You

6 Dec

Using leftover pancake batter from yesterday, I started my morning off quite deliciously.  Is that a word?  Do I even care?  Not really.  Anyway, the pancakes were just as incredible.  Ah, pecan and cacoa nib pancakes.  I must remember this delicious combination.

Continuing the delicious theme of the day, I gave into my gravy craving and whipped up a batch of punk rock chickpea gravy.  To go along with it, I made some mashed yukon gold potatoes and chickpea cutlets. This was my first time making the chickpea cutlets and I was IMPRESSED!  The texture really is great and the flavor is incredible.  The taste reminded me of Thanksgiving stuffing.  Really, really delicious stuffing.  The potatoes were just mashed with a little plain soy milk, vegan butter, salt and pepper. And the gravy.. oh, the gravy.  I would take a bath in it.

I forget to show you all photos from a delicious lunch I ate at Miya’s sushi last week.  As always, it was too good for words.  I can’t give enough praise to Miya’s.  How about you guys drive/fly/get your butts over to Connecticut and have a blog meetup at Miya’s with me?

I went with my Mom, and we decided to share four different rolls.  We started out with the fabulous pumpkin miso soup. Miso soup infused with pumpkin and other veggies.  Can it get any better?  For our sushi, we chose a sweet potato roll, a curry cauliflower roll, huge mixed vegetable roll, and a broccoli/garlic/black bean roll.

I would eat Miya’s every day!  In fact, if it were open right now, I’d be chowing down hard.

Now, I must go watch The Wedding Singer.  Quite possibly the best movie of all time.

How romantic, right?  Goodness.  I can’t get enough.  What I would give for Robby Heart to sing it to me..

P.S. What are you shooting with these days? I think I’m going to get a T1i but I’m on the fence.

    • Nicole December 8, 2009 at 9:12 am #

The T1i RULES!! I just sold mine to Meghann from Graduate Meghann. I was shooting with that up until a month or so ago and I got a Canon 5d Mark II which is an incredible piece of equipment too. I definitely recommend the T1i. It takes HD video too!

    • Nicole December 8, 2009 at 12:43 pm #

It’s actually a mixture of whole grain rice, including brown rice! It’s koshihikari rice, quinoa, oat groats, brown rice, amaranth & millet :)

Hrrrm… I actually do pass through New Haven semi-frequently… My family is in New Canaan and I live up in Boston and you seem to have some splendid taste in food and an intrepid attitude toward cooking :) . Also, my good friend lives on Elm Street across from Rudy’s, so I often stop there as well.

    • Nicole December 26, 2009 at 4:33 am #

I live right off of Elm! That’s funny. New Haven rules :)
