4 Healthy Snacks You Can Keep In Your Purse

When it comes to grabbing something to eat on the go it can be difficult to always have the healthiest options on hand.  When you are surrounded by naughty choices than it can be easy to fall into temptation or whatever is easiest.

If you have an addiction to fast food and junk food this is probably a result of it being the only thing you are used to having on hand rather than being prepared for moments when hunger strikes.  Sometimes the best thing to do to stop yourself from making unhealthy choices when your stomach rumbles is keeping a healthy option on hand.  Here are some of the best options that you can keep in your purse without worrying about them going bad.

Apples

The saying “An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away” never gets old. If you keep an apple in your purse you will not only be keeping a nice sweet treat that will help curb any cravings for sweets, but also packs a punch of lots of vitamins and fiber.

They can last up to as much as week in your purse and are delicious even if they don’t come fresh out of the fridge. They can be enjoyed in slices or simple munched right off of the core.

Another nice thing about apples is that they aren’t one of the more expensive fruits and can often be found in bulk for very reasonable prices.

Granola Bars

Granola bars are one of those things that seem to fill the void in your belly when you have hunger pains.  They are a fast jolt of carbohydrates to give you energy and will make sure to hold you over until your next meal.

When you compare a granola bar which has about 150-250 calories compared to fast food which can vary from 300-500 calories a serving and has a significant amount of fat and sugar, you are doing yourself a big favor opting for this healthier snack.

Nuts

Nuts are easy and full of lots of healthy fats and protein.  Almonds are ideal as they are lower in calories than peanuts and pistachios and have lots of vitamins that do wonders for our bodies.

If you have a handful of nuts next time you are hungry you will feel fuller longer than had you reached for a cookie or bag of chips.

Beef Jerky

Did you know that protein makes you feel full for longer periods of time? This is because it takes your body longer to break down than carbohydrates.

Beef jerky is an excellent protein to carry around in your purse since it doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
